Safe is not a promise.
It is a system we built
from the ground up.

Every feature, from sign-up to drop-off, was designed around one question: what makes both sides safe?

Informal carpooling already exists everywhere in Nigeria.
The problem was never the behaviour.
It was the absence of infrastructure.

Before RideFi, the choice was between unsafe informal arrangements (estate WhatsApp groups, “carry me” at the bus stop, cash to unverified drivers) or paying three times the cost for fully vetted e-hailing. RideFi sits between those options: the affordability of informal carpooling with the safety of a modern platform.

Safety isn’t one feature. It’s overlapping protections at sign-up, search, pickup, journey, and drop-off. None of them are optional.

Everyone is verified.
No exceptions.
Before the first trip.

Every user completes identity verification before they can post a trip or request one. This is not optional.

STEP 1

Live selfie capture.

A live selfie at signup with liveness detection. Not a camera roll upload. This becomes your permanent profile photo, locked from changes.

STEP 2

Government ID matching.

Verified against a government-issued ID: NIN slip, voter’s card, international passport, BVN, or driver’s licence. Drivers must provide a valid Nigerian driver’s licence to post trips.

STEP 3

Permanent profile identity.

Once verified, the profile photo is locked. Both rider and driver see each other’s verified face before the trip starts. No anonymous users on either side.

Three layers of protection.
Every single trip.

01

Both sides confirm pickup and drop-off.

Both sides confirm at pickup and drop-off. The fare is held when the trip starts and released when it ends. No trip starts or completes without both parties confirming.

02

Every trip is tracked in real time.

Route, location, and trip status are tracked in real time. Both sides see the live map throughout the journey. Riders can share their live trip link with a trusted contact outside the platform.

03

One tap to emergency support.

The SOS button is visible on every active trip. One tap will initiate a phone call to the nearest police call line we have in our database. Our team will also review

After every trip, both sides rate each other.

When a trip ends, both sides rate each other. Optional, but this builds a continuous behaviour record for everyone on the platform, drivers and riders equally.

Consistent low ratings trigger a review.

If your average rating drops below the threshold, your account is flagged for review. Patterns of rudeness, lateness, no-shows, or unsafe driving are acted on.

No-shows affect your account standing.

Failing to show up after confirming affects your reliability score. Repeated no-shows lead to account restrictions, protecting both sides from wasted time.

You are not required to accept
every request.

Before accepting a rider request, you see their verified profile, their identity photo, their rating, their trip history, and their pickup point. You make the decision. You can decline with no penalty.

You can also control who sees your trips in the first place.

Filter who can see your trips.

Set your trip visibility private or public. Trips that are set to private will not appear in their search results, only with your preferred riders.

Review before you accept.

Every incoming rider request shows you their verified profile photo, their star rating, and how many trips they have completed on the platform. Review it. Decide. Accept or decline.

Both sides are accountable.

Riders know their behaviour is rated after every trip. They know a pattern of bad behaviour affects their ability to book future trips. This creates a self-moderating community.

RideFi is a community.
These are its rules.

Confirmed trips are honoured.

Cancelling after confirmation, without at least 12 hours notice, affects your reliability score and may trigger a cancellation fee.

All payments go through the app.

No cash arrangements. No external transfers. All fares are held in escrow and released only after both sides confirm the trip is complete.

The agreed fare is the fare paid.

Drivers cannot charge more than the posted fare. Riders are charged exactly the agreed amount. No renegotiation after booking.

Pickup and drop-off are confirmed by both sides.

Neither can be bypassed. Both are recorded.

Profile photos cannot be changed.

The verified selfie is permanent. Any attempt to misrepresent identity results in immediate account suspension.

Harassment results in permanent suspension.

Reports of harassment, of any kind, by driver or rider, are investigated. Verified reports result in permanent removal from the platform.

100%

of RideFi users are identity-verified before their first trip.

Every driver. Every rider. No exceptions.

Not after their third trip. Not after a complaint.

Before trip one.
